WILDLIFE :
1980 and 2008 the Savute Channel was open grassland, because it stopped flowing, and was home to a wide variety of animals. When in 2008 the Channel once more flowed, it created a water source that rapidly filled with aquatic life. Now, a wide variety of water birds and hippo frequent which gives our guests the opportunity to have private and exclusive access to its abundant game.
Because of the ideal circumstances of floodplains, woodlands, grasslands, palm islands and scrub vegetation together with these three features, the area is home to one of the densest dry season concentrations of elephant in Botswana. At times the Linyanti has several thousand elephants roaming around. Although one of the main attractions for travelers to northern Botswana this area is also important in providing an integral stronghold for the critically endangered wild dog, as well as lion, cheetah and spotted hyena.
