JACANA CAMP
SITUATED :
25 kilometres west of Mombo, outside the Moremi Game Reserve on the Jao flats, Jacana Camp is a truly water-oriented camp and offers mokoro and walking safaris all year round. The camp is set in one of the most densely populated wetland areas for Sitatunga and Red Lechwe - but game concentrations depend on water flow and volume and change from season to season.
ACCOMODATION AT JACANA CAMP:
5 meru-style tents.
- Each tent is built on a wooden deck
- Overlooks the floodplains
- En-suite bathroom with flush toilet and shower.
- Enclosed, but roofless bathroom
FACILITIES:
The main dining area:
- on an elevated wooden deck between two magnificent sycamore fig trees
- Surrounded by dense wild date palms.
Downstairs:
- a cosy pub and lounge
- Area to sit around an open fire under the stars.
ACTIVITIES :
From about September to May, as the floodwaters recede and depending on water levels
- game drives
- night drives
- open 4x4 vehicles
WILDLIFE :
A diversity of landscapes ranging from riverine forests to floodplains and periodic marshlands, it is home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa, hippo in abundance, buffalo, antelope and even lion.
