Situated:
Abu Camp is situated in a 400,000-acre private reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta.
Accommodation
Abu has 6 luxurious tents that are located under a shady canopy in an ancient riverine forest.
The large Afro-Bedouin Tents have a unique and wonderful design with a private viewing deck overlooking the lagoon. Each tent at Abu has beautiful en-suite facilities with a shower and a bath.
Elephant Villa
Abu's new Elephant Villa has been designed and built as a separate, private unit on the opposite side of the lagoon from Abu Camp. It boasts two large bedrooms with en suite facilities and a spacious sitting room - all on a raised teak deck beneath shady trees. The Elephant Villa has its own swimming pool and a resident butler. It is designed for a maximum of four people or a small family and has a minimum age requirement of eight years old.
Facilities
The dining and bar areas are on raised on multi-level wooden decks that wind around African ebony and sycamore fig trees. It is here where guests gather. The lounge and dining tent has beautiful big sofas, with breathtaking views over the lagoon. and There is a well-stocked library and a study.
Activities
Guests are invited to share with the resident elephant family what is, without doubt, the ultimate elephant education safari.
The elephant experiences offer many special moments including the interacting with the resident herd of eight elephants - as well as with the herds of wildlife in the area.
Abu also offers game drives, night drives, safari walks and mokoro (dugout canoe) safaris - as well as the most intimate elephant learning experience in Africa.
Game in the area
Plains game is abundant in the area, from Zebra, Elephant, Giraffe, Impala, Lechwe to Warthogs, Wildebeest and the mighty Buffalo. The camp has a resident pride of Lion’s that will announce their presence at some time during your stay. There is a very strong chance of hearing them calling at night.

Notes:
- No minimum or maximum number of nights are required although for a full experience, a minimum stay of 3 nights is recommended.
- Elephant activities are offered daily.
- Only 5 guests can be accommodated on the elephants, per elephant ride excursion, with a maximum of 7 guests walking along with the herd during the excursion.
- Abu Camp does not have a family room. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 years can be accommodated as a triple share in a standard twin room on an extra bed (maximum 2 extra beds available for this purpose at any one time). This may impact on space and comfort.
- Child rates will apply when the child is sharing with adults in the triple room, however the range of activities is limited as a result of the minimum age requirement of 13 years for the following: canoeing, mokoro excursions, walking (game walks or walking with the elephants) and solo elephant rides.
- Children between the ages of 6 and 12 years may participate in a sleep out on the outdoor star-deck as well as on an elephant ride, provided they are accompanied by an adult, on the star-deck or on the same elephant respectively.
- Elephant excursions cannot be booked on a private basis and as such all parties, including those with children between 6 and 12 years, share in these activities at the same time. Where possible the camp will allocate and roster activities in such a way that families with children between 6 and 12 years are accommodated sole use on game drive and boating activities.
- When booking sole use of Abu Camp the minimum camp age restriction falls away, however activity minimum requirements remain in place for safety reasons.
