SITUATED :
The Okavango Delta is a shifting web of crystal clear channels, lagoons, sweeping flood plains and palm-studded islands hosts over 450 birds, 1 000 plant species and an abundance of animals. It has earned its reputation as one of the world's sought after wilderness areas.
Jao Camp is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta: a private reserve on a remote large island, to the west of the Moremi Game Reserve. Across the waterway in front of the camp, guests have access to open flood plains and savannah for a wonderful Okavango experience and the variety of habitats ensures diverse and interesting game viewing.
Access to this area is only by light aircraft.

If the area has a large flood, we usually have to boat to a large island, called Hunda Island, where vehicles would be waiting and the game drives start.

WILDLIFE :
This area covers a diversity of landscapes ranging from riverine forests to floodplains and periodic marshlands. It is home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa, hippo in abundance, buffalo, antelope and even lion.
